DanskAI - AI Usage Policy
Effective date: 20 May 2026 · Consent version: 2026-05-20
DanskAI integrates AI features to support Danish language learning. This policy explains which AI systems we use, what data they receive, how outputs are governed, and what controls you have. This policy is part of our Privacy Policy.
1. AI features and provider
The following features are AI-powered:
- Grammar correction and explanation
- Vocabulary generation and validation
- Pronunciation and writing feedback
- Conversational practice (chat)
- Lesson plan generation
- AI tutor matching recommendations
All AI inference is processed via the OpenAI API (operator: OpenAI, Inc., USA). We use the API in a data-processing capacity, not a consumer product capacity. See our Subprocessor List for full details.
2. What data is sent to AI systems
When you use an AI feature, the following data may be included in the request sent to OpenAI:
- The text you submit (e.g., a sentence for grammar checking)
- Your native language preference (e.g., "English") to calibrate explanations
- Your current difficulty level and learning mode, where relevant
- A system prompt authored by DanskAI - no personal identifiers are included
We do not send: your name, email address, profile picture, payment details, or any data not directly needed to fulfil the AI request.
3. AI training and data use
Under our API agreement with OpenAI, data submitted via the API is not used to train OpenAI models by default. We have not opted in to any data-sharing programmes. OpenAI may retain request data for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, after which it is deleted. See OpenAI API data usage policies.
DanskAI does not use your AI interactions to train or fine-tune any model.
4. AI output accuracy and limitations
AI-generated content — including stories, grammar exercises, listening scenarios, revision plans, vocabulary explanations, and tutor chat responses — is labelled with an AI-generated badge wherever it appears. This disclosure is required under EU AI Act Article 50 and is consistent across all AI-powered features in the platform.
AI outputs may contain errors, hallucinations, or culturally inappropriate suggestions. They should be reviewed, not followed uncritically. For exam preparation, professional communication, or high-stakes writing, we recommend verifying AI corrections with a qualified teacher.
5. Your consent and controls
- AI features require your explicit consent before first use. You will see a consent dialog the first time you attempt to use an AI feature.
- For classroom pilots, teachers or school administrators must confirm parent/guardian or school-authorised consent before inviting or activating 13-17 student accounts. Under-13 self-service AI use is blocked unless DanskAI implements a reviewed compliant school/guardian consent path.
- You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Privacy → AI data processing. Withdrawing consent disables AI features immediately.
- You can request deletion of your AI interaction history (cached responses) by contacting privacy@danskai.co.uk.
6. Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR)
Our legal basis for processing personal data via AI features is consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
7. Changes to this policy
If we introduce a new AI provider, change how we use AI data, or make a material change to this policy, we will notify you by email and update the consent version. You will be asked to re-consent before using AI features under the new terms.
